Stephen Lazar
Orange Grove Studios is a California-based full-service design firm, founded by Stephen Lazar. The business (just a side hustle at first) began over 25 years ago, after my husband and I bought and revamped a simple beach cottage and started receiving queries from friends and family about creating warm inviting spaces for them.
Although a duplex, which would be eventually become a single-family residence, was a labor of love, it called upon my many years of travels and life experiences.
After studying Classical Art & Architecture at a small liberal arts college in the mid-west, my life took a turn and I landed in the world of hospitality, catering, and events. There I developed the know-how; besides the important practice of organization and project management, my design sensibility was rooted in the knowledge of entertaining and creating a warm loving environment for friends and family.
I am a mindful designer, concerned as much about the beauty of a design as I am about pragmatism and flow. My approach to design is open and explorative, often I immerse myself in a project until I feel like I can move the puzzle pieces and shape the space. I don’t stop until I find an elegant modern solution that flows.
Since my beginnings, the company has evolved into a full-fledged residential design studio focused on home, kitchen and garden living.
Though still based in California, we serve clients across North America, using industry-leading software and embracing all modern means of digital communication to work seamlessly with homeowners everywhere.
